Meet the Team

Trevor Hazelwood

Founder, Bookkeeper, Crocheter, Environmentalist

My name is Trevor Hazelwood, founder of Keeping Up Accounts, LLC. I am an avid crocheter and love to make clothes in my free time! My craft hobby allows me to pay close attention to detail which is key when it comes to bookkeeping and taxes.

I began my bookkeeping journey by helping my dad get caught up on the books for his construction company. I loved organizing his books and found it so satisfying to resolve any discrepancies that came up. This experience led me to pursue a bookkeeping certification and then to work at a startup accounting firm for content creators and influencers.

I quickly learned in this startup environment that I wanted to start my own firm which reflected what was most important to me: sustainability, people, integrity and data privacy. These are the values that guide me as I continue to grow my business.

I am familiar with QuickBooks, Xero, and GnuCash accounting softwares to help your business stay organized. I love helping business owners get their books organized and keep them that way!

“Trevor takes the time not only to code all my transactions, but he spends hours thoroughly explaining exactly what is going on down to the penny. I walk away from my meetings with Trevor with a clear understanding of my financial picture and with confidence that he has the Scrappy Elephant’s best interest at heart. I am so grateful to have met Trevor and for all he has done for the Scrappy Elephant. I cannot stress enough how much he has helped my business succeed.” – Sarah S., The Scrappy Elephant

Jake Abruzzo

Co-Owner, CMO, Bookkeeper, Crocheter, Environmentalist

I’m Jake, co-owner of Keeping Up Accounts, LLC. As you may have noticed, Trevor and I have a lot of traits in common and that’s part of why we make such a great team. I got my start in bookkeeping during my college Accounting course as part of a business minor. I was surprised at how quickly I caught on to the basics of accounting and enjoyed a lot of it.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and cared a lot about the environment, so starting Keeping Up Accounts to help businesses that are focused on a greater mission rang true to me. In today’s world it is so easy to buy almost anything at the push of a button. I would rather support the local supplier than the “big-box” store as convenient as it may be. So, I want to help the people doing the work to change the narrative. Whether that’s supporting a creative reuse center, an artist who gives old clothes and fabric another life, thrift stores, or even just someone who wants to try and do more for the planet or their community.

We aim to give those businesses the best chance they can to grow and succeed by managing their money with care and integrity. Not only do we make your books look clean and run smoothly, but we are also passionate about helping business owners understand what their financials tell them about their company. Whether you use Quickbooks, Xero, plain old spreadsheets, or nothing at all we want to get you on the right path.
